This site was founded in 1995. It was the only shopper/tourist web site in New York showcasing a one-neighborhood shopping area, the Silk Shopping District. As such, it remains the oldest internet site of it's kind. The brainchild of Alexander S. Kabbaz & Bruce Logan, MadisonAvenueNYC.com began in cooperation with the now-defunct Madison Avenue Merchants' Association. The Association assisted in obtaining the site's initial funding with the understanding that, as time went by, responsibility for ongoing support of the site would devolve upon the merchants themselves in proportion to the benefit each wished to receive from the site's operation. Initial management, design and construction were done by Kabbaz's AskAd Agency, Inc. These functions were succeeded by Artists' Woods Internet Management division three years later.
Thanks to Olga Logan, John Dessarzin/Shoot the Shot Inc., the folks at Quad-Right, Lata Gopaul, Damien Kabbaz, Jennifer Wheeler, and Joelle Kelly, ... without whose constant fact gathering & checking, editorial & graphic efforts, and steady encouragement ... this site would not have been possible.
This site is continuously managed on two stand-alone 833mHz Pentiums with 256Mb RAM running under Windows98 and an old PowerMac 6100. Photographic content arrives through a Polaroid Sprintscan and is viewed on Nokia 445Xi 21" monitors.
